Health is Wealth Journal:Easy way to get your iron up

I’ve always struggled with low iron/anemia since childhood. I remember all the not so pleasant supplements through out the years. During my pregnancy my doctor once again informed me that my iron was low and I needed to take supplements. Now I always struggled with irregularity so the little red iron pills did not leave me happy. So I went the natural route. I up the ante with green leafy veggies everyday. I made sure that I was eating a green salad for lunch and dinner. But my secret weapon was an old down home remedy, unsulphered  blackstrap molasses! That’s right, it was that simple. I blended it in either a smoothie or drizzled it over a fruit compote for breakfast. When I went in for my routine check up my iron level significantly increased and I was still regular!  It was Hippocrates that said “Let medicine be thy food and food thy medicine”.

Iron Lion Breakfast Recipes

The White Elephant Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 2 scoops of peanut butter
  • 2 scoops of Irish Moss jelly (optional)
  • 1 tsp of nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp of blackstap molasses
  • 2 cups of Vanilla almond milk (or any other type of milk)
  • Ice chips to your liking

Combine all of these ingredients in a high speed blender and blend to your desired consistency. ENJOY!

Creamy Spiced Apple Compote

Ingredients

  • 1 chopped apple
  • 1 cup of plain yogurt
  • 1 tblsp of blackstap molasses
  • 1 tsp of nutmeg
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup of granola (optional)

Place chopped apples, molasses and nutmeg in a saucepan. Stir the ingredients in the saucepan over medium heat until apples are apple pie soft. Place the warm spicy apples in bowl and top them with the yogurt and granola. ENJOY!

Holistic Roots Movement

I’m learning that there are two sides to the labor & childbirth, pain being on one side of the coin and pleasure on the other. Just think about it for a moment, women use the same vaginal muscles during sex as they do in childbirth, so what does that tell you? Given the right tools and techniques it is possible for you to flip what has been known to be a painful experience into an orgasmic one, now that’s what I’m talking about!

The Blossoming Mama Lotus: Childbirth, Traumatic or Orgasmic?
